  Raipur has been in existence since the 9th century; the old site and ruins of the fort can be seen in the southern part of the city. Raipur district is important historically and as a point of interest archaeologically. This district was once part of the Dakshina Kosala Kingdom and later became part of the Maurya Empire. In the 4th century CE, Gupta king Samudragupta conquered this region and established Gupta domination in the region until the fifth and sixth centuries when the area came under the rule of Sharabhpuriya kings. For some time in the fifth and sixth centuries, Nala kings dominated this area. Later on Somavanshi kings took control and ruled with Sirpur as their capital.

  Must visit for history lovers if you are in raipur or near to raipur. Basically it has a collection of our ancient time scluptuters, local weapons and many more with only 5 rs. entry ticket. And specially don't forgot to try their local food from Garh kallewa.

  It’s not just a museum, it’s a museum plus. There are performances, there is a garden, play area, local restaurant and an ongoing stream of are and culture is also present here. A must visit place if you are in Raipur. Highly recommended. Don’t forget to eat at their café- Gadh Kalewa

  Mahant Ghasidas Sangrahalay Established in the year 1875, Mahant Ghasi Memorial Museum is located in Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh. This museum was built by Raja Mahant Ghasidas of Rajnandgaon consequential to a surge of awareness regarding the preservation of archaeological heritage. It occupies a land of almost 2 hectares. It is one of the famous museums in Chhattisgarh and is amongst the 10 oldest museums in India. More specifically, the diverse collection of the museum is preserved in various galleries. The Archeological Gallery exhibits a rich collection of the articles and artifacts that were used during the Stone Age. The Sculpture Gallery exhibits stone carved idols of Gods and Goddesses. Other galleries of the museum are the Natural History Gallery, the Anthropology Gallery, the Tribal Gallery and the Ancient Arms and Armory Gallery. Different types of objects of anthropology and natural history are preserved here. The museum also houses arts, crafts and paintings. The first floor has objects related to nature and its history containing various birds, mammals and snakes.

  Nice collection of Cultural and Historic things. I think this place can be improved much . Outside Place is not clean , Details of Museum Collections are not mentioned in it. But okay you will enjoy it.
