best place to learn German in old colonial historical place. The Goethe-Institut in New Delhi like all the other institutes in India, is known as Max Mueller Bhavan – in honour of Max MΓΌller (1823-1900), a scholar of comparative religion and co-founder of modern Indian studies. The institute organises and promotes a wide spectrum of cultural events in Delhi and other north Indian cities with the aim of presenting German culture, particularly its contemporary aspects, in India. Its artistic and reflexive programmes and projects are developed in close cooperation with Indian partner institutions.

It has good collection of books which might be sufficient to learn basic and advanced German language. Facilities available are incomparable and you can have the best experience of being there.😍

No doubt this is the best place to be if one wants to learn German language. I've also heard from a friend who completed his course from here that it has got the best teaching staff for German and state of the art library. But, my experience with the application process is totally the opposite. It's a lot cumbersome when you go about applying for upcoming batches. The registrations for a course take place online well ahead of time before it starts. Once online registrations are closed; on first come first serve basis confirmed list of 100 students and waiting list of rest students is released mentioning the specific date and time to make the payment for the course. They have limited infrastructure to conduct A1 level classes across 5 batches in a day (between 100-150 seats, with 20-25 seats in each batch ) but they prepare waiting list consisting 1000+ students. And ask everyone to come on same day for admissions (along with cash for the course fee). At the time of fee payment they take hardly 50-100 students which are left due to absentees from the confirmation list and send the rest back with cash in hand and waiting all day; asking them to apply again and try their luck for next batch that starts after a gap of 3-4 months and same process repeats again. All in all one only manages to get his name in the waiting list but admission is limited to first 100-300 entries. So one may get a seat only if he/she is lucky enough. Thus, the institute only focus on keeping it safe for them so that their seats don't remain vacant and not on expanding the infrastructure or atleast making the admission process a little cumbersome. And even if one seek to point out the flaw and provide suggestions all they say is "this is how we run, we suggest you to leave -better luck next time ".
