The world's first Partition Museum is now open at the historic Town Hall building in Amritsar. The Partition of India was one of the most defining events in the nation's history. It was perhaps the largest migration in human history, with some 18 million affected. The Museum is part of the newly inaugurated Heritage Street at Amritsar, which starts at the Golden Temple and ends at the Town Hall. shows history the division of British India into the two separate states of India and Pakistan on August 14-15, 1947 – was the “last-minute” mechanism by which the British were able to secure agreement over how independence would take place. At the time, few people understood what Partition would entail or what its results would be, and the migration on the enormous scale that followed took the vast majority of contemporaries by surprise.

Very informative. Neat and clean. Situated just near golden temple. Fully air conditioned . Rs 10 as entry fee that can also be paid through card. At least devoted 1 hour to this place.

A great exhibition of the events around the partition of India and Pakistan. Nice visuals for display and also a compilation of audio and video clips available. There is a ticket for a minor price and there is no photography allowed. Closes down in the evening. In a very close proximity to the golden temple and the area around these places is very beautifully constructed. Looks great at night.

Partition museum is a refreshing take on infotainment. I've seen such museums only in Europe before. Since I visited partition museum, I've been quite impressed with the museum and it's displays that make use of audio visual guides as well. The partition museum of Amritsar is an eye opening journey through the process and pain of partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. I do think that if you come here you should be ready to take out 3/4 hours of your time to see everything with calm and hear all the heart wrenching stories of partition. It is worth every penny you spend.

I expected it to be big but it was not. But what i saw inside was incredible. There are several original documents to see which were used at the time of partition. There are original dresses which are very old but they have maintained them. You get to know about different partitions held in India such as Bengal Partition, India Pakistan Partition etc. There are videos of experts that you can see exclusively. You have to buy ticket at the entrance which is 10 bucks per person.
