  Very small airstrip. Ideal for chartered planes only. In no way suitable to cater a city of million plus population.

  More of a flying Club than an airport. As one of the early Industrial cities of India, Jamshedpur deserves a full fledged Airport. Its importance on the Commerce and industry map will grow multifold if this happens.

  The aerodrome, which is spread over 25 acres, first opened in 1940.There are no scheduled flights into this airport, however in the past years, the airport was served by airlines like Kingfisher Red, Kingfisher Airlines,MDLR Airlines and Deccan Charters which discontinued services due to various reasons despite recording good loads. While MDLR and Deccan Charters ceased operations due to internal issues, Air Deccan and Kingfisher had to discontinue services in November 2009 after load restrictions were imposed due to the short length of the runway.Since Air Deccan and Kingfisher operated larger ATR 42and ATR 72 aircraft respectively, operations became unviable. Scheduled flights will start in early 2018 under the government's UDAN scheme as Air Deccan will re-launch scheduled operations to the airport soon.

  5 STAR FOR THIS GREAT ACHEIVEMENT OF ESTABLISHING AIRPORT IN JAMSHEDPUR....BUT IT IS VERY SMALL AIRPORT WITH VERY LITTLE DOMESTIC FLIGHTS AND INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS ARE NOT THERE......800 METERS RUNWAY WITH ACCEPTABLE NUMBER OF PLANES.....GOOD FOR STARTING THE DREAM CAREER OF BECOMING PILOT......HIGHLY ADVANCED PLANES......ONE CAN LEARN HERE....EASILY. WELL MAINTAINED THANK U JAMSHEDPUR's CITIZEN
