  Second busiest railway station in Chennai, situated around 4km distance from Chennai central,There are waiting areas in each platforms, separate waiting rooms available for A/C reservation passengers and sleeper Passengers, If you have a reserved ticket, you can use the ac dormitory with a fee of 30rs for 1hr, this dormitory situated in the 1st platform and opens at 4am..

  The Egmore Railway Station stands on a historic site where the East India Company converted a choultry into a fortified redoubt, early in the 18th Century. It later served as a sanatorium for soldiers and then as a Government Press. Thereafter the Orphanages which were functioning in Fort St George were shifted here in the mid-18th Century. By the late 19th Century, a part of the property was sold to one Mr Senjee Pulnee Andy from whom the South India Railway Company purchased it for a sum of Rs 1,00,000/-.The station was commissioned in 1908.

  Many times I have visited this Railway station in Chennai. The Egmore railway station second biggest railway station in Chennai city. Besides the station we have visited many tourists places like museum one of the most attractive place. The station covers major south Tamil nadu cities. Station atmosphere is very good. Food mall's are available with affordable price. Very near star hotel's are thre for high budget people. Tamil nadu tourists buses are connected to the Egmore railway station.

  This Railway Station is one of the two major stations in Chennai. This station caters to passengers from south mainly. There are parking places for autos and taxis. This is visible from the road outside. Disabled friendly approach is available. Aavin milk booth is available inside the platform. Escalator is provided for the benefits of the passengers.
