::Mogalarajpuram caves are right in the middle of the city of Vijaywada and are said to be excavated around 5th century CE. We could visit at least 4 groups of caves and it made me wonder how about 1500 years back they could chisel so wonderful caves and engrave sculptures out of solid rocks. It is said that initially these caves were done by the Buddhists and later on Hindus took over these and carved Gods and Goddesses. The idols of Lord Nataraja, Vinayaka and Ardhnareswara were carved in these caves but now these have been taken to various museums. Going around these caves and looking at these ancient caves gives an idea of the times when these were made and used. Good place to visit if one loves history of people of the region.
