::Ready Reckoner Rates-Myth and Realities Government of Maharashtra on the advice of Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamps revises Ready Reckoner Rates every year upwardly citing various reasons including higher revenue generation but very few people are aware the real reason behind such upward revision and take it on the face value that Registration Department is concerned about increase in Revenues to Government. Fact of the matter is that at all Registration Offices throughout the state rates are fixed for paying illegally to Registrars & their staff a percentage of value of registration fees & stamp duty and naturally by increasing Ready Reckoner rates their earnings rises without any uproar and that is the primary reason for upward revision of rates. In economy there is cycle of inflation & deflation as also supply & demand but not a single instance of Ready Reckoner Rates at a stand still or downward revision. Builder Lobby is hand in gloves with Ministers & Bureaucrats alike and who or which political party is in power is immaterial. I fully understand that my all this writing will fall on deaf ears of Ruling Government as vested interests are more powerful than to work for the better of common citizens in our country & Maharashtra Government is no exception.
