The area within the fort has an axial road laid in an east-west direction where there is now some human habitation. The central part of the fort has been identified as the archaeological zone where the ruins of a great Shiva temple are now seen with only the freestanding "entrance portals" or gates on the four sides. Each gate has twin pillars with angled brackets over which lies the huge lintel; the height of this gate is 10 metres (33 ft). The gates have extensive intricate carvings of "lotus buds, looped garlands, mythical animals, and birds with foliated tails". The carvings do not include any religious symbols, which is said to be the reason for its preserved condition and not getting destroyed by the Muslim invaders.[16] Of the four gateways

Lots of history. The show that is projected is informative but too long. It is definitely being maintained well but can be marketed more. The history and the story of the Kakatiya Dynasty needs to be told more as there is lots of valour and sacrifice that can inspire generations.

A beautiful place depicting the ruins of the amazing fort. Please do make a note to go with generous amount of mosquito repellent applied as they are notorious here. The audio-visual show after dark depicts the rich history of the Kakatiya dynasty and Telangana.

Quite an amazing place for architectural remains that's over 1000+ years old. Not too much to see but whatever is there is marvelous if you imagine how those figures and sculptures came to existence so many years ago. Great Indian history is present in this small location, at Warangal.
