  Coimbatore is a small city just short of the Mountains and as a town is full of small surprises. To Marvell at, here at the station is the way access to the platforms has been organised the railway authorities at par with "Metro Rail" stations. Standing outside is a steam loco that adds to the beauty of the station and a feel of nostalgia.

  An old nice railway station with lot of good facilities. But, improvement required as most of the times the importance is not given due to its attachment to Kerala railway connectivity. There can be more trains towards Chennai every day in the night. The location is in the heart of the city. Lot of good hotels close by. Local buses are available for almost every part of the city just outside the station. One gets excellent vegetarian options in the neighborhood. Good display systems everywhere.

  First time I came to Coimbatore is by train in the year 2003. I reached Coimbatore at 10:15 in the night by Intercity Express from Chennai. From then to now the station is maintained clean. Only recently escalators where installed at all platforms. First time in my life time I saw underground Pathways to the exit. Usually you have four or five counters for general tickets and two Electronic ticket vending machine. Also you have special counter for physically disabled and senior citizens. There are two exits one at the east and one at the west. Both East and West entrance have ticket counters.
