::Very clean and secure railway station. Had a midnight train to be boarded and was initially skeptical about it being in a remote area. But it is actually a very well lit railway station. Also, it had one police person on each platform for the entire duration when we were at the platform. Made us feel safe. Only thing is that there were many mosquitoes so we had to keep moving in order to prevent being attached by them. Apart from that it was a very good railway station.

::Podanur Junction, now officially called as the (Dheeran Chinnamalai Maharaj Terminus Coimbatore) dont know why such a name change, personally I dont like it, but the history is that this station is much older than the Madras Central Railway Station. Podanur Junction was opened in 1862. This station has a platform length much greater than Coimbatore Central Station. Due to various reasons, this station lost its glory, but it still has wonderful memories of people who have lived in Podanur for many many years. I still remember the old look of the station which had a booking office near the Aiyappan Temple, the foot bridge that took us to the platforms and most of all the Steam Engines which had the huffs and puffs and the steam horns. The station was surrounded by the "Flame of Forest" trees. Back when it was built, it had cobblestones and well paved pathways. Also closely situated is the Podanur Post office which was the first in Coimbatore District. A lovely nostalgic place, but I loved the old Charm.

::Historic place. Podanur junction is the first n important junction of Coimbatore. This junction was constructed during the French settlements. Since the humidity is very low French made their settlements here. Podanur is also called as small ooty. All the trains stop here.
